Walker Family Update

Wow! I feel so horrible. It has been way too long since I posted a blog. I should have known that this would never work out for me:)

I guess I should just start with what is going on in our life.
First and Foremost, We are excited to announce to those that don't already know... WE ARE EXPECTING A BABY GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!! Grace Ellen Walker is expected to come into this world on the first of June. I am having WAY too much fun getting ready to have her come into our home. All the girl clothes are soooooo fun!

Jude is now 22 months. He is so sweet. He lights up our lives so much. He is all boy. He loves any sort of ball and running and climbing. He is rarely seen without a bruise or scratch of some kind. He is always smiling and love his big brother so much. Whether he likes it or not, Liam seems to have a permanent shadow:) He loves to eat and is ALWAYS thirsty. His favorite tv show is Wow Wow Wubzzy and he gets so excited when it comes on. He loves to color. He adores nursery. He went down the hall of the church to the nursery all by himself today. NO need for Mommy. He especially loves our kitty Mahoney. He has no down button on his volume, it's loud, Louder and LOUDEST! No in between:)

Liam just turned 3. He never ceases to amaze me. He is so smart and absorbs just about everything he hears (whether I want him to or not). He LOVES dinosaurs and often tells people that he wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up. He knows all the dinosaurs by their scientific names and likes to tell everyone about them. He loves to sing and perform for people. He sings "Poker Face" by Lady GaGa and "Animal" by Neon Trees. He loves tv and watching "shows" with Mommy. He loves American Idol! He even sings the "Pants on the Ground" song from last season:) He loves to play and go to the indoor playground Monkey Bizness. He is working on potty training. He loves books. He loves to play video games with his daddy on the Playstation 3. Liam is definitely an animal lover. He is going to be the kind of child that is always bringing home strays I'm sure:)

Phil is going to school to get a degree in Secondary Education/Political Science. He is also still in the National Guard and had drill this weekend. He is looking forward to doing ROTC next year and becoming an officer. The boys sure love their Daddy and I think that he loves to be with them too:) I think my last blog was before he left for basic, so just a brief overview... He Went to Basic in July of 2009. He was there through October. Liam and I went out for his graduation and he was able to fly home with us. He left again in February of last year. He was stationed at Ft. Eustis, VA until August. It was a long year, but it ended up being great for our family. He is so excited to have a baby girl to be "Daddy's Little Girl."

Life...

It leads you in funny directions sometimes. Last Wednesday, it lead me to the airport at 5 am. I never wanted to be awake at 5 am, let alone at the airport. Putting the love of my life, my beloved husband, on a plane was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I can't imagine how I would feel if he was being deployed! As I watched him walk away, I panicked about whether we had made the right decision or not. It is hard to imagine nine months of not having him around! He is my rock. I rely on him so much! I don't know how to function without him. I had forgotten how to sleep without him. All I have to say is, I had better die first. LOL!
The last week has been surprisingly good. The first day, Liam had a hard time. I had to open every door just to show him daddy wasn't behind them or else he would pound on the door crying "Daddy!" That was about it though. He has been so good to me. The second night daddy was gone, I put him in bed with me and he slipped his tiny arm under my neck and hugged me until he fell asleep. When he can tell I am sad, he comes up and rubs my arm. He is a truly remarkable child. I am so incredibly blessed.
I have gotten to talk to Phil every night and that has been great. That will all change once he actually gets into his unit or whatever, but for now it's nice. It makes the transition easier.
Poor guy is sick. He got his flu shot yesterday and it made him so sick! He has a fever and a sore throat and everything. No fun! Other than that though, he seems to be okay... not too homesick!
Well I will keep you all posted as I know more about what he's doing! Good night!

The last week...

Has been crazy! Last Saturday, I went out to Nampa to pick some mulberries to can. So you know the song "All around the mulberry bush" with the monkey and the weasel and such? Well, a mulberry bush is actually a mulberry tree! We picked so many berries and still have millions because we had no ladder, so there are a bunch up higher we couldn't get. Liam had a ball picking berries and eating them. I swear he ate a whole pound! He was a very happy, sticky boy! After we got the mulberries, we got a couple buckets full of cherries. That night we made mulberry jam and some mulberry cherry jam. It was so yummy!
Sunday was Father's Day. I wans't able to really do anything for Phil this year, but I got him a card. We had a nice dinner with my family and we made some more cherry jelly at my in laws house. Brianna's car broke down and we had to go rescue her.
Monday we went out to Kuna and helped Jake and Jenzi start building a fence. We spent all day out there and had a lot of fun! Liam loves to play with his friend Tripp. He wants to be just like him. He discovered the sandbox as well and he loved it! I thought I was going to have to drag him home kicking and screaming.
On Tuesday, we had to go out to the base to get all of our military id's and stuff for when Phil leaves. We waited for a while there and got everything squared away! I still can't believe he leaves in 2 and a half weeks! Liam is going to be so sad! He loves his Daddy!
Last night we went out and picked more cherries. We got a whole Rubbermaid tote full of cherries for jelly and to bottle! Liam loved the cherries too. He ate a couple of them pits and all. (That made for a few interesting diapers today!)
Today we went out with my mother in law for a while and then I made really yummy hamburgers for dinner. After dinner, we went to my parents for a while so my mom could see the babies. She goes through withdrawls when she doesn't see them for a couple of days. After we got home, I made another batch of jelly and burned the heck out of my finger. When pouring into jars, make sure your hand isn't in the way!
Tomorrow we are going ot finish painting the boys' room. We are going to try to move Liam to a big boy bed and see what happens. He has one of those convertable cribs, so we are going to try to convert it to a toddler bed.
In an unrelated note, I love my boys so much. Liam is so full of energy. He has been so affectionate the last ocuple weeks. He has finally started saying "I love you" to people. He loves to cuddle and kiss people. His friend Tripp was getting a bit upset the other night because he wouldn't stop! He loves to kiss the puppies too! Jude is getting so BIG! He has started smiling and talking an laughing and can scoot across a blanket on the floor! He weighs 16 lbs and is in size 3 diapers. Liam wears size 4s and weighs 22 lbs. It's amazing how different the two are! I love them so much!

Doubts

The closer it gets to July 14th, the more I worry that things are not going to be okay when Phil leaves. It seems like I rely on him so much for so much! It is so hard to think that our sons may not even know him when he gets back. Liam loves his Daddy so much and has a hard time when he is at work, much less gone for nine months! Jude is young enough that he won't really know the difference, but he won't know him at all when he gets back two days before his first birthday! I don't know, maybe I am just freaking out too much, but I am worried that I will not be a good single mom for nine months! My thoughts are so sad! I really need some uplifting! The only thing that makes me feel better is knowing that we are an eternal family, and in the scheme of things, nine months is a blink of an eye! Plus he will be able to come home for 2 weeks for Christmas and I will be able to go see him in AIT. I guess maybe there is some light at the end of this dark tunnel!

The Walkers

So, I decided to get on board with the whole blog thing. We have so much going on in our lives and I thought this would be a good way to document all of it! We don't keep in touch with so many people as well as we should, so hopefully this my make up for it!
So let me catch you all up to speed. We have been married for two and a half wonderful years. We were married September 16th, 2006. On January 14th, 2008 we were blessed with our first little boy, Liam James. Then on March 26th of this year, we welcomed "Baby" as Liam calls him. His name is Jude Melvin. We are living in Eagle, ID and have 2 chihuahuas, Bella and Dita (short for Gordita).
Phil and I are truly best friends. We love spending our time together. We love movies and music. We are quite passionate about politics. We also love good food. Our ideal evening would consist of sitting at home with a good movie and a good meal. We do love to go out though. I enjoy scrapbooking. I love being a mommy and spending time with my boys! Phil recently joined the Idaho Army National Guard. He really enjoys his time with the Army. He leaves on July 14th for basic training. He will be gone for almost nine months! It will be sad to be apart, but it will be good for us in the end.
Liam is getting so big, it amazes me every day. He is finally starting to walk and he talks like crazy. Some of his favorite words include, "cookie" which means anything to eat, "dita" which is pretty much any animal, and "hi" which he says to everyone he sees as many times as it takes to get them to say it back. We loves to play in the yard and he loves to help mommy plant flowers. Which in this case, of course, means playing in the mud. His favorite show is Spongebob, whom he calls "Bob-bob". He has two Spongebob t shirts, a hat, swim trunks, dvds and several toys! Even his night light is Spongebob.
Jude is really too young to report much. He is growing like a weed. He eats all the time. He is such a little chunker, which is funny because Liam was pretty skinny. He is finally sleeping through the night for us! It is very nice. I have been so blessed to have two wonderful sleepers! Well it is past bed time! I should put my boys to bed! Good night for now!
